Call Recording

Call recording is an important tool for telecommunications providers that need access to historical call audio for quality assurance, dispute resolution, compliance, troubleshooting, or customer service.
Sippy’s Call Recording Module provides an integrated way to automatically record calls handled by your Sippy platform. Recorded calls are saved as standard .wav files and securely transferred to an Amazon S3 bucket or other compatible object storage bucket, allowing recordings to be stored outside of the live softswitch infrastructure and accessed when required.
The module is built directly into the Sippy platform and was enabled by enhancements made to the B2BUA and RTPProxy components maintained by Sippy. This allows call recording to be handled as part of the normal call processing and media path rather than relying on a separate external recording system.
Each recording is associated with the corresponding call information, making it easier to locate and identify individual calls without manually matching recordings to CDR data.
The major features of Sippy’s Call Recording Module include:
-
Automatic recording of calls handled by the Sippy platform
-
Recordings saved in standard .wav format
-
Automatic storage of recordings in an Amazon S3 bucket
-
Call metadata stored alongside each recording
-
Metadata includes CLI (calling number) and CLD (called number)
-
Setup Time and Disconnect Time associated with each call
-
Billed Duration included with the recording metadata
-
Simplifies searching, identifying, and retrieving recordings for specific calls
-
Keeps recording storage separate from the primary softswitch infrastructure
-
Integrated with Sippy’s B2BUA and RTPProxy components for native call and media handling
By combining the call recording with its associated call information, Sippy provides carriers with a simple and scalable way to maintain an organized archive of recorded traffic while taking advantage of Amazon S3 for cloud-based storage.
