Frequently Asked Questions

This is a short Q&A page to help provide you contextual information about our Softswitch.  We aim to consider as many scenarios as possible to provide you a well rounded perspective.  We know that your analysis before committing to technology is critical so we want to help.

QUESTION: Does Sippy provide options for small capacity and how are they hosted?

ANSWER:

We offer small capacity solutions fully hosted by us. We can provision your softswitch within 24 hours of subscription. The minimum capacity of a hosted softswitch is 100CC. You can choose between Shared Hosted or AWS Cloud depending on your colocation needs. In some countries such as Paskistan and Nigeria, local authorities require telecom businesses to operate within the country. In such cases, a Flex license option is available to you which would make it possible to the license on your dedicated local server.

QUESTION:  May I increase the capacity or CPS on my hosted system?

ANSWER:

Before an increase in capacity or CPS, Sippy confirms that the server being used contains the necessary resources available.  If the server where the softswitch environment is hosted can handle more capacity or CPS the technical team may configure an increase as soon as your payment is received. If the capacity or CPS can't be handled on the current server, the support and sales team look for alternate servers for migration of softswitch environment so that the capacity or CPS increase can be provided.

QUESTION:  Can I use an external billing system with Sippy?

ANSWER:

Yes it is possible. We can set up the generation of thrift files with detailed information about all calls made in the system. These files can be uploaded to your FTP server and used for external billing.

QUESTION: May I increase the capacity or CPS on my hosted system?

ANSWER:

Before a capacity of CPS increase Sippy checks the server for the required resource availability.  If the current server where the environment is hosted can handle more capacity or CPS the technical team may increase it as soon as you pay for the increase.  If the capacity or CPS can't be handled on the current server, the support and sales team may find an alternative server for migration of the environment so that the capacity or CPS increase can be provided.

QUESTION:  May I get a standby solution if my softswitch is on a hosted environment?

ANSWER:

Currently, Sippy doesn't provide Standby functionality for hosted softswitches.  The Standby solution is available only for full license purchase.

QUESTION:  If Sippy hosts my softswitch, will I have access to my database?

ANSWER:

Sippy doesn't provide SSH or direct access to the database to our hosted users unless they are on AWS.  For our customers using our shared-hosted server option we have implemented an XML RPC API.  Here is a list of the available APIs:
