By the very nature of Internet Telephony, no two VoIP networks are the
same. Both software and hardware configurations differ significantly,
as well as the set of services offered to subscribers.
In practice, this means additional development is often necessary to
integrate software from different vendors to work as part of a unified
system, providing the end user with a seamless experience.
Also, in many cases, it can be more economically viable to use
high-quality open-source IP telephony software with small modifications
to replace or complement proprietary third-party solutions, in order to
increase capacity or to provide new services.
Our experience is based on both building our own packaged VoIP software
solutions using open-source software, and helping our customers by
building and extending their IP telephony networks.
